About the barcode scanner

This tool reads barcodes back using your device camera or an uploaded photo, decoding the value directly in your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server. It covers common 1D formats like CODE128, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, CODE39, ITF-14, MSI, Pharmacode, and Codabar, plus 2D formats like QR codes and Data Matrix.

Need to create a barcode instead? Use the barcode generator, which produces nine common formats and downloads as a PNG.

My barcode isn't scanning — what should I try?

Hold the barcode flat, fill more of the frame with it, and make sure there's enough light and minimal glare. For photo uploads, a sharp, well-lit, straight-on shot works best — blurry or angled images are the most common cause of a failed scan.
