Frequently asked questions

How do I scan a QR code from a screenshot or a photo in my gallery?

Tap 'Scan an image or screenshot' and choose the picture, paste it with Ctrl+V (⌘V on Mac), or drop it on the box. This works for QR codes sent on WhatsApp or saved from a website, where you can't point a camera at them.

Is it safe? Is my camera picture uploaded?

No. The camera picture and images are read on your device by your browser; nothing is sent to Quikbench or anyone else.

Can I check a UPI QR code before paying?

Yes. The scanner shows the name and UPI ID the code pays, and the amount if it has one, so you can check it before opening your UPI app. Remember: you never need to scan a QR code or enter your PIN to receive money — that's a common scam.

Why does it warn me about some links?

Short links (like bit.ly) hide where they go, plain http pages aren't secure, and addresses made of numbers or unusual characters are often used by scammers. The warning doesn't mean the link is bad — just check you trust where the code came from.

It can't find the QR code in my photo. What can I do?

Make sure the whole code is in the picture, in focus and not too small. Crop the photo around the code, avoid glare, and for printed codes try the camera instead. Damaged or very low-contrast codes may not be readable.

Does it work on a laptop?

Yes. Use the laptop's webcam, or upload a photo or screenshot. On phones the back camera is used automatically; 'Switch camera' swaps to the front one.

Avoiding QR code scams

  • Never scan a QR code to receive money — receiving never needs a scan or a PIN.
  • Check the payee name on UPI codes, especially stickers in public places that could be pasted over the real one.
  • Be careful with short links and codes that ask you to log in.
