Why do some formats need Pro even for a single file?
Formats like HEIF, AAC, and FLAC can't be reliably converted by your browser alone — they need real server-side processing. We only charge for the formats that genuinely require our servers to run; everything your browser can do on its own stays free, with no file-count limit on what "free" means beyond one at a time.
What's the real difference in PDF compression?
The free tool cleans up a PDF's internal structure — useful, but modest savings, especially on PDFs made of scanned images. Pro actually recompresses the embedded images themselves, which is where most of a PDF's size usually comes from — typically 3-5x more reduction on image-heavy files.
Does Pro renew automatically?
No. Pro is a 30-day pass you renew manually from your account page whenever you need it — no recurring charge, no subscription to remember to cancel.
Is my data safe either way?
On Free, nothing ever leaves your device — conversions run entirely in your browser. On Pro, files you send for server-side processing (batches, harder formats, real compression) are deleted immediately after your job completes.
