How to convert a file

  1. Choose your file or drop it on the page. Quikbench recognises the format from the file and selects it for you.
  2. Pick what you want it to become. The list only shows formats that can really be produced from your file, so you can't choose an impossible conversion.
  3. Adjust options if any appear (such as quality for images or bitrate for audio), then click Convert.
  4. Download the result. Most conversions finish in moments.

What you can convert

TypeWhat it covers
ImagesCommon photo and graphic formats such as JPG, PNG and WebP, and conversion between images and PDF. iPhone HEIC photos are supported too.
AudioPopular formats such as MP3, WAV and OGG, among others. Pro adds extra formats like FLAC, AAC, M4A and Opus.
Documents & ebooksPlain text, Markdown and HTML documents, and ebook conversion.
Spreadsheets, archives & fontsSpreadsheet formats, ZIP-style archives and font files.

The format picker always shows the complete, current list for your file.

How it works and why it's private

Most conversions run inside your browser, using the processing power of your own device. Your file is read locally, converted in memory and handed back to you, so it is never sent to a server and there is nothing to delete afterwards. The exceptions are a few demanding formats and Pro batch jobs, which are processed on our server and deleted as soon as the job completes. For the details, see our Privacy Policy.

Free and Pro

Free conversions handle one file at a time, with no account needed. HEIC, WMA and AC3 files are free too, up to 5 per day. Pro adds batches of up to 100 files, larger file sizes and more formats.

Tips for better conversions

  • Converting between lossy formats loses a little quality each time. Going JPG → PNG doesn't restore detail, and converting a JPG to another JPG setting re-compresses it. Always convert from the original if you have it.
  • Choose PNG for screenshots and logos, JPG for photos. Our guide to JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF explains when each is best.
  • Need a specific file size? Use the Image Compressor to hit an exact target such as 50 KB.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free?

Yes. Everyday conversions are free with no signup, and they never need an account. Pro is optional for batches and larger jobs.

Why can't I choose a certain output format?

The picker hides conversions that can't be done properly — for example between font formats that are built differently — so that you don't end up with a broken file.

Why won't my iPhone photo open on Windows?

It's probably HEIC, Apple's photo format. Our guide explains what HEIC is, and you can convert it to JPG right here.
