Image Resizer

Resize an image to an exact size, right in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

Need a smaller file size instead? Try the Image Compressor — including exact sizes like 50KB.

  • Keeps the original format — JPG stays JPG, PNG stays PNG
  • Works with JPG, PNG, WEBP, BMP, GIF, ICO, SVG and HEIC (HEIC: 5 free per day, no signup)

How to resize an image

  1. Add your image. JPG, PNG, WEBP, BMP, GIF, ICO, SVG and HEIC files work. The tool keeps the original format: a JPG stays a JPG and a PNG stays a PNG.
  2. Enter a new width, a new height, or both, in pixels.
  3. Resize and download. Your original file isn't changed.

Pixels, file size and quality — what's the difference?

Resizing changes the dimensions (for example, 4000 × 3000 pixels down to 1200 × 900). Compressing changes how tightly the image is packed, which controls the file size in KB or MB. The two work together: fewer pixels usually means a smaller file, but if a form asks for "under 50 KB" you want the Image Compressor, which can aim for an exact file size.

  • Making an image smaller is safe. Going from 4000 pixels wide to 1200 loses detail you didn't need for screens.
  • Making an image larger can't add detail. Stretching a small image just makes it blurry. If you need a genuinely bigger, sharper version, the AI Image Upscaler reconstructs detail instead of stretching.
  • Keep the proportions. Change only the width or only the height and the other follows, so the picture isn't squashed. Set both only when you need an exact shape — and expect distortion if the ratio is different from the original's.

Sizes people commonly need

  • Email and messaging: about 1200–1600 pixels on the longer side is plenty.
  • Web pages and blogs: match the width of the space it will fill; avoid uploading a 5000-pixel photo to display it at 800.
  • Forms and applications: use the exact pixel dimensions the form specifies, then check the file size limit.

Is it private?

Yes. Images are resized in your browser and are not uploaded. HEIC photos (from iPhones) work too — 5 per day, free, with no signup.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get an exact size without stretching the picture?

If the width and height you need have a different shape from your photo, resizing has to squash it. Use Crop Image instead — pick the size, then drag and zoom the picture to frame it exactly.

Why does my resized image look blurry?

Either it was enlarged (which can't add detail) or it was saved with a lot of compression. Resize down rather than up where you can, and start from the original file instead of one that has already been resized and saved several times.

Can I resize many images at once?

Free is one image at a time. Pro adds batch resizing.

Does resizing remove the photo's location data?

Don't rely on it. If you share photos publicly and care about privacy, check or strip location data separately — our Image Compressor re-saves the picture without its hidden metadata (such as GPS location) as part of compressing.
