How to convert PNG to JPG
- Add your PNG by choosing it or dropping it onto the converter.
- Adjust the quality (optional). Open Options to choose the JPG quality, and to set a new width or height if you want to resize at the same time.
- Click Convert and download your JPG.
Why convert PNG to JPG?
PNG keeps every pixel exactly, which makes files large, especially for photographs. JPG compresses photos far more efficiently, often to a fraction of the PNG's size with little visible change. People convert PNG to JPG to:
- make a photo small enough to email or upload,
- meet a form or website that only accepts JPG,
- speed up a web page that uses large photographs, and
- save storage space.
What changes when you convert
- Transparency is replaced by white. JPG can't be see-through, so any transparent areas of your PNG become white.
- Some detail is discarded. JPG is lossy. At a high quality setting the difference is hard to see in a photo.
- Sharp edges can look fuzzy. Screenshots, logos, diagrams and text with hard edges can show small halos or blur in JPG. Keep those as PNG.

Need an exact file size?
Forms often ask for a photo "under 50 KB" or similar. Convert to JPG here, then use the Image Compressor to reach an exact size. Our guide on compressing a photo to 20KB, 50KB or 100KB walks through it.
Is it private?
Yes. Your image is converted inside your browser and is never uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free?
Yes, with no signup and no watermark. Free conversions handle one file at a time, with no account needed. Pro adds batches of up to 100 files.
Which quality setting should I use?
For photos, a high setting keeps them looking natural; lower settings give smaller files with more visible compression. If the result looks soft, convert again from the original PNG at a higher quality rather than converting the JPG.
Can I convert JPG back to PNG and get the quality back?
You can convert it back, but PNG can't restore detail the JPG discarded. You'd just have a bigger file. Keep the original PNG if you might need it.
