Frequently asked questions
Why does Amazon say “This sheet only contains one column”?
Amazon reads uploaded spreadsheets as tab-delimited text or Excel. A Shopify export is comma-separated, so Amazon sees each whole line as one column. Convert it here and upload the .txt (or .xlsx) file instead.
What should I choose for Header Row, SKU Column and Data Row?
With the file from this tool: File Type “Non-Amazon file”, Header Row = row 1, SKU Column = “SKU”, Data Row = row 2. The tool shows this again after converting.
What does the tool change in my Shopify file?
In a Shopify export, only the first row of each product has the title, description and brand — variant rows are blank. The tool copies those down to every variant, adds the colour or size to each title, turns the HTML description into plain text, takes up to 5 bullet points from your description lists, and lists all image links. Shopify-only columns are left out.
Do I still need barcodes (EAN)?
For most categories Amazon needs a GTIN (EAN or UPC) for each product, unless you get a GTIN exemption for your own brand. The tool tells you how many variants have no barcode.
Is this the same as Amazon's category template?
No — this file is for Amazon's “Non-Amazon file” upload, where Amazon maps the columns for you with AI. Review the listings Amazon creates before you publish them.
Is my product data uploaded?
No. The conversion happens in your browser; nothing is sent to our server.
From Shopify to Amazon in one upload
Listing the same products on Amazon shouldn't mean typing them again. Seller Central's spreadsheet upload accepts a “Non-Amazon file” and maps the columns for you — it just needs the data as tab-separated text or Excel, with every variant on its own complete row. That's exactly what this tool produces from a Shopify export.
Steps
- In Shopify, export your products as CSV.
- Choose the file here and download the Amazon file.
- In Seller Central go to Catalogue → Add Products → Spreadsheet, upload the file and pick the rows shown above.
- Check the listings Amazon prepares, add any missing details (barcode, HSN, category fields) and publish.
