Frequently asked questions
How is age calculated “as on” a date?
We count full years, then full months, then the remaining days from your date of birth up to the cut-off date. If you were born on 31 January, one month later is taken as the last day of February.
What does an upper age limit of 32 mean?
In UPSC and SSC notifications it means you must not have reached 32 on the cut-off date. For UPSC Civil Services 2026 (21–32 on 1 August 2026), that is: born not before 2 August 1994 and not later than 1 August 2005.
What relaxations do reserved categories get?
For central government jobs the usual upper-age relaxations are: OBC 3 years, SC/ST 5 years, PwBD 10 years (13 for OBC, 15 for SC/ST). Ex-servicemen, J&K domicile, widows and departmental candidates have their own rules — check your notification.
Which date should I use?
Use the “crucial date” or “cut-off date for age” given in the notification — for example 1 August for UPSC Civil Services and SSC CGL, and 1 January for SSC GD. Pick an exam above to fill it in, then change it if your notification says otherwise.
Is my date of birth stored?
No. Everything is worked out in your browser.
Check your age for any exam in seconds
Every government job notification sets a minimum and maximum age on a “crucial date”. Being even one day over makes the form invalid, so it's worth checking before you pay the fee. Enter your date of birth, choose the exam (or type its limits) and your category, and you'll see your exact age, whether you qualify, and the birth-date range the notification will list.
