Does it count Hindi and Punjabi words correctly?

Yes. Many counters split Hindi or Punjabi words at the vowel signs (matras), which gives wrong counts. This one keeps each word whole, and counts characters the way you see them on screen.

How is reading time worked out?

At about 238 words a minute — the average silent reading speed for adults. Speaking time uses about 150 words a minute, a comfortable pace for a speech or video.

Do spaces count as characters?

The main character count includes spaces, like Google and most social media limits. The count without spaces is shown too.

What's a good length for a blog post or essay?

For a blog post aiming to rank on Google, 1,000–2,000 words is common. For a meta description, keep under 160 characters; for a page title, under 60.
