How does Malayalam typing work here?
Two layers work together. The instant part is this site's own rule-based engine: the moment you finish a word (space, punctuation, or Enter), it's converted immediately using standard phonetic rules — no network needed. Right after, the same word is also sent to Google's own public transliteration service, which uses machine learning to suggest the word it thinks you actually meant — often better than a fixed rule can guess for ambiguous spellings. If Google has a better suggestion, you'll see it as a clickable chip above the text box.
Is my typing sent anywhere?
Only the single word you just finished typing is sent to Google's transliteration service to fetch suggestions — the same way autocomplete works — never your whole document. If you'd rather nothing leave your browser, turn off "Phonetic typing" toggling stays local, or just ignore the suggestion chips and keep the instant local conversion.
What if Google's service is slow or unavailable?
The instant local conversion already happened by the time the Google request would even resolve, so the tool keeps working exactly the same either way — the suggestion chips simply won't appear if the request times out or fails.
