Frequently asked questions
What does the GST invoice checker check?
The seller and buyer GSTIN (format, state code and check digit), whether CGST + SGST or IGST is right for the place of supply, the tax on every line, the taxable total and grand total, HSN/SAC codes, the invoice number (16 characters max), the date, amount in words, signature, reverse charge and the e-invoice IRN/QR code.
Does it tell me if a GSTIN is active?
It tells you if the GSTIN is a real, correctly formed number — a wrong check digit means it's mistyped or fake. Whether it is currently active can only be seen on gst.gov.in → Search Taxpayer, so do that for large payments.
Can I use it for my own invoices before sending them?
Yes — sellers use it to catch mistakes before the buyer does. If it finds a problem, fix it in your billing software or make a new invoice with our free GST Invoice Generator.
Is the result tax advice?
No. The checks follow GST rules exactly, but the AI reads the invoice, and a blurry photo can be misread. Check any problem it finds against the invoice itself.
Do you keep my invoice?
No. It is read only to check it and is not saved. 10 checks a day are free, no account needed.
How to check a GST invoice
- Add the invoice PDF, or a clear photo of it.
- Press Check this invoice.
- Fix the red items first — they can block input tax credit — then the yellow ones. Confirm the GSTIN is active on gst.gov.in.
